Rally for Restaurants

When faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, restaurant sales plummeted 80%. To combat the brunt of this tragedy, Toast created Rally for Restaurants and developed a site that allowed anyone to purchase gift cards from almost any restaurant. This would provide the restaurant with immediate funds, while promising the consumer a meal in the future from his or her restaurant of choice.
We went from sketches to site launch in under a week, given the high-impact potential of this effort, and after a week, gift card revenue was at $1M.
Our team developed the branding for this site, then scaled it as more page requests came in. I created the Data Insights / COVID-19's Impact page, which became the second most viewed page on the entire R4R site after the home page. Our business operations team pulled data and created a Tableau data visualization which I embedded into this page.
When we were on the brink of passing the CARES act, our team rallied together once more to create an extensive resource page for restaurants to highlight the impact of this legislation on our community. I developed three iterations to be launched one after the other to align with immediate deadlines, resulting in one that would be deployed with anchor tags, sticky navigation and embedded graphics to improve the future-state of the user experience.
The team is continuing to develop a V2 of this site to be a more scalable brand that can be iterated on for the time to come. For the time being, check out the GIFs I created for social sharing purposes on Instagram. In just three weeks, they have reached roughly 134K views.
