Bbot Order and Pay
UX/UI Design, Wireframing, Prototyping, Project Management
With the rise of the pandemic, QR code technology became more commonplace, especially in the hospitality industry with contactless dining. Bbot's entire product hinged on the use of digital menus, so it was imperative to refresh the entire app to increase functionality and kickstart the way we think about ordering from a phone or computer. With that, the entire experience needed to be cohesive, while allowing restaurant brands to customize the theming of their ordering site. I partnered with the product and engineering teams as well as key stakeholders to deliver the new and refreshed order and pay product.
The SolutionThis was the first release in our journey to improving the way consumers order from their devices. With competitive analysis across seven order-type apps and products as well as user testing, the team was able to spec out a product that would surpass the current one in speed, visuals, and functionality.
Native experiences allow ease of use, and the introduction of a new design system allows hospitality operators to customize differing variables across their branded ordering site. |
The ResultsFrom early release to full launch, customers saw an increase in ordering volume and ease of use. The Customer Success and Engineering teams saw less bugs, and product churn was less likely to be correlated with UI/UX reasoning.
Our consumer-facing product usability increased, and guests were much happier with the seamless ordering experience through user testing post-launch. Bbot was acquired by DoorDash in March 2022, so this product will become the main platform under DD's Storefront team. |
